Sad day! First VTA problem Empty Sad day! First VTA problem

The main components of my system are a VTA ST 70, VTA SP 14 and PH 15. I use a turntable and CD player with the tape stuff in the loop.

The other day the system went quiet. I can hear the turntable VERY faintly through the speakers (Tyler). The CD player comes through about the same.

I thought I had tracked down the problem to a bad rectifier in the SP 14 which I replaced. (I also broke the fuse holder fooling with this stuff which Roy graciously replaced immediately).

I also briefly replaced the two driver 6SN7's in the SP 14 but changed back to GE's I had in it originally. All tubes tested okay in my old Eico except that old 6X5 rect. (and I'm not sure the setting from the old Eico list are correct).

But it must not be the rectifier.

I'm getting 116v out of my bucker and all four EL 34 tubes are biasing right around 40.

I am NOT a tech guy (just a record collector) but anyone have any ideas of where to start?

My stereo is my baby. It took me about 40 years to finally put together a nice system so I'm pretty bummed out.

I still feel it must be a tube just because it seems the problem with tube gear is usually a tube but the tubes in the SP 14 are good. I haven't fooled wit the PH 15 as I assume if the problem crosses over to CD's it's not the phone pre-amp.

Thanks in advance for tips or ideas.

    Also,
When I run the CD player RCA out to Aux 1 It is barely audible.
When I run the CD player digital out into the DAC into AUX 2, it is a little louder.

Turntable: if I crank the vol. to noon I can hear some very faint music through the speakers.

Since I haven't fooled with the phono pre-amp, is there anyway a bad tube in the PH 15 could possibly be loading the system down or something?

If the rectifier 5AR4 in the power amp were bad I wouldn't get any sound, right? Rectifiers don't go "a little" bad do they?

(By the way, this gear has been working flawlessly for about the last five years.)

Dave is in contact with me directly, thanks, we'll see what's up . . . likely a broken connection somewhere

    If anyone is curious;
As close as I can figure out I had several problems at once and I'm not sure what happened.
I think a power strip was going bad and may have taken a 6X5 with it but I'm not sure.
In any case most everything is working like new.
The only thing I have left to check out is the possibility of a problem with an Akai DS 5 switcher (currently removed from the system).
Thanks to Roy for helping out.
