Can my ST120 handle it ? Empty Can my ST120 handle it ?

I have a pair of Acoustic Research AR9 and want to know if my ST-120 can handle the load.

I have used my AR90s with this amp but they have (2) 10 inch woofers in parallel vs (2) 12 inch; everything else is the same.

They are 4 ohm nominal speakers with a dip to 3.2 ohms. 50 watts minimum per channel.

The VTA120 has 4 ohm taps so the impedance may not be a problem but they are also 87 dB efficient.
60 watts from the VTA120 should be enough unless you have a large room in which case you may be better off with a pair of VTA M125 amps.

My ST-120 is already wired for 4 ohm as all my AR speakers are 4 ohm. I'm not worried about loud volumes just didn't want to stress the amp.

You can use your VTA ST-120 to drive your AR9 speakers .. Yes - the AR9's are not that efficient but as long as you are not using them in a very large room, the ST-120 will work just fine with your AR9's.
