    My VTA ST 120

Good morning everyone I hope all of you are having a good day and that all of you are safe.

It's going to be a little while before I get started back on building my VTA ST 120. I'm on Social Security Disability so I have to watch what I spend every month and a few of the modifications that I want to make is going to take some time. I worked myself hard when I was a young man walking 15 miles or more everyday land surveying on construction sites and other jobs for Brown & Root construction company. And after work working on my electronic repair business.

Another problem is I'm losing my sight and I'm getting to the point where I can't see anymore and I'm going to have to go down and get some glasses and have my eyes checked.

I posted some pictures of my progress the other day and if it weren't for Bob catching an error that I made on one of the supplementary capacitors being reversed in the wrong direction of positive and negative  I could've had a capacitor pop or explode. Immediately I went and desoldered and reversed the polarity of the capacitor to the right direction.

I guess that's just part of getting older you get to the point to where you're limited to some of the things you were able to do before.

I'm gonna go down and have my eyes checked and I'm going to take my time putting this amp together for what I have envisioned in my mind and to make sure that I get things put together correctly.

If any of you see anything that looks out of the ordinary please make a comment about it and let me know.

More than likely, but I hope not, this maybe the last project that I'm going to be able to do myself to where I can see what I'm doing.

All of you have a good day and clear skies and stay safe.

    Tom

An eye exam and the correct pair of glasses can provide an amazing improvement.

    EWALAA....

When I worked as a licensed professional land surveyor (PLS) for almost 30 years I was out in the sun a lot during the summertime and like my grandfather and my father I may have the early stages of cataracs so I cringe at the thought of a eye doctor sticking a knife to my eyeball and putting in a new lens that is clear.

It's gotten to the point where I can't see in the dark or see in my closet during the day to grab a shirt or a pair of pants without a bright light turned on where I can see.

Seriously... I hope I just need glasses. lol

At age 80 I had cataract surgery and I don't need glasses now except for reading. Find the best ophthalmologist in your area and get yourself some 20/20 vision again.

Standard cataract surgery today is fairly routine compared to what they want to do to my left eye to remove a cataract. Had a piece of shrapnel tear into my eye and damaged the retina. They would need to do a pars planar procedure (go in from then side of the eye and remove the lens from the rear) and a full victrectomy (removal of the fluids in the eye) and then suture a new lens in place (most of the zonules are damaged). After watching a video of the procedure I said NFW; especially since I'd still be legally blind from a torn retina.

Thanks DavidR.... thanks for your comment and thanks for your advice. Today I had a doctors appointment scheduled for this morning at 11:00AM for my every three month doctor visit. I asked him if he could set me up with a ophthalmologist. Now I go see them in two weeks and I haven't seen an eye doctor in about like 10 years.

I'm worried about what they might find.
