Decided to try this as my center driver tube, using RCA clear tops for the inverters. Previous center was an Amperex or RCA clear top. What a treat! The low end has opened up more and am more amazed at my Fritz Carerra BE's. Imaging is tad better, soundstage has expanded between the instruments on a macro level. Very clear top and mids but not much different thant the clear top center driver. If you want to roll drivers, I highly recomend giving the Black Diamond a try.

I'm using Telefunken smooth plate 12AU7/ECC82's in the center position of VTA boards in both of my ST70's and to my hearing, they do make a difference.

Re: Telefunken Black Diamond ECC82
I've been buying tubes for more years than I care to remember from closed repair shops and buying old audio and test equipment just for the tubes. Manufactures like Tektronics, Heathkit Eico etc. used Telefunken, Mullard and Amperex tubes in their equipment in the 50's and 60"s because they were sometimes cheaper than the American made tubes.
