VTA PAS 2 - Z Mod - (DIY Newbie Question) Empty VTA PAS 2 - Z Mod - (DIY Newbie Question)

Post by Dingojazz Wed Jan 12, 2011 2:12 pm

I am adding the Z upgrade to my PAS phono section, which already has the VTA Power Supply upgrade, as well as the the VTA "dyna-clone" phono and line stage boards. I have assembled the Z-mod phono board per the instruction, my question has to do with making the Filament Voltage and B+ connections to the Z-Mod board. Currently it appears the Filament voltage connections go to connections 14 & 15 on the "old" phono board. Assuming these are the - and + filament wires, how do I determine polarity?

Also, it appears (?) that the B+ connect on PC 6 are at 4 and 11... if so, again how to determine polarity there?

    Any help appreciated.

    K.

on the phono board, eyelets 4 and 11 are both ground, eyelet 16 is B+
If you don't have the original schematic for the PAS3 you can download the entire manual here for free:

the Zmod boards show polarity because they are also used in the Z preamp (which replaces the older SP8) with a regulated power supply.
I'll try to post those board diagrams here, if they don't work they are also posted on my website at:

I just posted an update to the power supply layout showing where the filament outputs go.
The final answer to any question is ALWAYs found in reading the schematic !!
