Turn out the lights and listen to the music ... Tube amps just look cool in darkness .. Something you can't get from a solid state amp..

Hi,

I didn't take the photo. It was taken by a customer of mine of an amp that I built for him. The photo was sent to me via an Email attachment. You don't really need a tripod and time exposure. Most digital cameras allow you to raise the speed of the camera's sensor to the point where you can take a photo like this hand held.

VERY NICE !!! I love listening to music and watching the blue/purple glow of the output tubes!!
It even has nice wife factor, kind of like romantic candles!!

Hey all,

I took that picture of the ST-120 Bob Latino built for me the day I received it. My first tube amplifier and am currently about to start a VTA SP-8 build. Bob is right in that you could probably take that picture handheld if you turned up the iso and used a fast lens. I have to double check the file data but I think this particular picture was taken on a tripod at ISO 100 f2.8 17mm with a 30 second exposure. Great forum, very informative.
