PAS2 from fleaBay

I bid on and won this PAS2 only because the seller said: "there are 4 vintage Telefunken 12ax7's"
Dynaco/Telefunken 12ax7's sell for $50 - $60 apiece nowadays, $200-$240 for 4 Telefunken 12ax7's.

This is the 1st PAS preamp I've seen with a "white" top cover. (There are 2 more "white" PAS2 selling as I'm writing this).

Following are the pictures posted by the seller. I will post some hi-rez pics in a few days.

No, but on mine, which came with the clearcoat abraded off around the volume and source selector knobs, I masked off the brown band at the bottom and used fine steel wool to remove the old clearcoat; then satin-finished the bare brass with 0000 steel wool. Then cleaned it, including carefully removing any steel wool bits and dust from the engraved brown lettering; then sprayed the whole panel with clear gloss urethane.

I also painted the cover using conventional procedures. I don't like the looks of the light beige top covers. But that's an individual taste.

FYI, here is the "Dynaco Brown" paint suggested in a previous thread on this forum: Krylon #4292. Also suggested was clearcoating with Minwax clear satin since the Krylon leaves a flat finish.

Thanks for both of your inputs.

I got most (98%) of the grunge out of the cover with a soap & water scrubbing. It's much more presentable now. I noticed that the inside of the cover is 100% painted too. I think I'm going to leave the cover with the original paint for now.
