I just realized Sgt. Pepper's is 50 years old! Released June 1, 1967.

One of those albums you play start to finished and enjoy everything about it.

Angel Eyes - ironic title from a blind guy. One fantastic guitarist. His was the band that played behind the cyclone fence in Roadhouse.

Definitely a chick-flik, but his first album was dynamite. I didn't realise he died 10 years ago. A loss to great licks.

On Spotify I gave the latest Sgt. Peppers 50th Anniversary remix a try.  Even in compressed format I can hear more low level information.  Also the outtakes are interesting.  I am growing more fond of Spotify for auditioning music before purchase... Yes, the ads are annoying but not bad for a free service.

Wow. A bluegrass orchestra, playing with both passion and discipline. And a song which is pretty topical right now. Exceptional.
Did anyone else notice that L/R seems to be reversed???

What a performance !!!!! nicely articulated solos, and each one showing just enough to keep the flow interesting, stepping in and out without braking the spell. Beautiful !!!!! Good taste 10-E-C

I saw Del and his band, two sons play with him, at the Barter Theater in Abingdon Va. I’m not a real fan of Bluegrass music, my wife is though, their set up and sound was fantastic. Each instrument wasn’t amplified just a couple of microphones placed in front of them and mixed beautify. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of their play.

Can't help it. This is a full concert by a chamber group in the guise of a "bluegrass band". Watch masters at work, and listen:

Oh, and it's from Charlottesville, several years ago. Settle into yer listenin' chair....

WOW, look like the great ones are coming out now. Take a listen to this one below. This song has been sang by many singers and nothing happened. On this live performance everything came together, style, voice, musical arrangement, and that something that turns a good performance into a great one. Although her voice shows signs of age, she hits the upper registers without fracking her tonsils, or making the sine waves square.
The first link includes the crowd going crazy, the second link has English subtitles.

I've seen some great concerts in my lifetime including Jeff Beck, Joe Walsh and Jethro Tull. But my all time favorite concert was their Back In Black tour right after that album came out a couple of years ago. Oh wait. I think that was 1981.
