SP14 - what does Roy think?

Hi Roy,  

As the designer of the SP14 can you tell us in simple terms how & why the SP14 is something you're very proud of - I don't want to limit your thoughts, so just more interested in your discovery path to the SP14, experience w. tube gear in general, the tube, circuit, details, etc... I know very little about tube audio & figured you have a wealth of knowledge to share w. those of us in this forum who recognize how influential a tube linestage can be.

I love mine.

i did read the tubes4hifi website. I'm interested in learning more. The site is a good intro w. lots of reviews, but I'm interested in Roy weighing in w. more info on his journey into discovering the Akido circuit & what compelled his build, etc...

At the risk of sounding totally inept, why no tone controls? I've read numerous articles expounding the need or lack of need for them.

I added a Parks Puffin phono preamp to my VTA ST70. Now I have tone controls and MORE !
