So . . . you REALLY wanted the VTA SP14 preamp, our top-of-the-line product.
But . . . then you realized that it doesn't include a phono preamp, and you also wanted a really good phono preamp.
Adding our PH15 phono preamp for $700 to the SP14 preamp (starting at $1350 plus any options/upgrades) was going to break your budget.
Well, alot of customers went ahead and did it anyway, winding up with an incredible hi-fi system for a budget price when compared to the cost of equivilent quality from the major hi-end manufacturers.
But a few customers had to either wait on a great phono preamp, or make a compromise in their budget, and go for our popular SP12+PH12 package.
There is a HUGE difference in the design of the SP12+PH12 versus the SP14 plus PH15 combination, which is why there is such a huge difference in the price.
That leaves about 20-30% of potential customers wanting more, including myself!
So today I'm happy to introduce a new product aimed directly at those customers (including myself) that really do want both the SP14 and the PH15, but can't quite afford it, and/or want it all in one package.
I'd thought about calling this new product the "RM Reference" (my initials) but hey, let's call it what it really is, a new product combining ALL of the great design features of the SP14 and PH15 into a smaller package - the SP13 + PH13.
Yeah, not such an original name. Here's what you get, and what you don't get . . . not too many compromises this time!
The SP13 will have the exact same circuit design as the SP14.
Dual B+ power supplies, fully regulated.
Dual filament power supplies, fully regulated.
Separate filament supply for the B+ rectifier tube.
Here is the difference, a much smaller circuit board made possible by switching from 6SN7 octal tubes, to 6FQ7 noval tubes, generally regarded as the best sounding 9pin tube, and an exact electrical equivilent to the 6SN7.
It is a much better sounding tube than the 12AU7 or it's various varieties.
Now, for the new PH13 phono circuit. This is the same exact circuit design as the PH15, but on a much smaller board that was specifically designed to to added into the same chassis as the SP13. It does have a few compromises.
It will share B+ power from the SP13, but it does have it's own
independent B+ regulator, for total isolation.
It also has it's own filament power supply, fully regulated.
It doesn't have alot of space for much larger upgraded capacitors like the
PH15, but it does use better quality capacitors than the PH12 has, and it keeps the output buffer tube from the PH15 design. So it is a significant step up from the PH12, and just a tiny step down from the PH15 (which was designed to be a stand-alone product).
Oh . . . now the best part - the price! All of this was done for a very good reason!
If you had wanted the SP14, and then the PH15, you were already well over $2200 ! (plus any options or upgrades).
All of this fits into the same chassis we use for the SP12+PH12 combination, but the circuit design and sound quality are a large step up from there, and just a small step down from the SP14 plus PH15 (and only one chassis, not two!)
Since I'm sure this will be a high demand product, and recently most customers have wanted these preamps all ready assembled and ready to "plug-and-play",
I'm offering this ONLY as a ready to "plug-and-play" product for the next few months, and I'll be dedicating most of my time to building this new product rather than concentrating on other kit products.
The price is $1590, saving you over $600 from the cost of the SP14 and PH15 combination. This price will INCLUDE an input relay switcher, which was a $70 extra cost option on the SP14. This eliminates about 30 feet of wiring inside the chassis, and shortens the signal path, with less chance of crosstalk and noise pickup.
Get your order in now, on the list.
Deliverys will begin the first week in July.
I can take a down payment of $1000, the balance due
(and shipping charges added) when it is ready to ship.
The only options are:
black chassis - add $50.
Goldpoint volume attenuator - add $150.
Mundorf silver-oil PIO caps - add $90.
