Hello, I'm wiring up a recently purchased VTA board, & can't figure out from the diagram where the braided pair of wires from pins 1&2 on the front bias sockets connect to on the VTA board. It looks like pin 1 goes to the far eyelet (closest to the transformers). Is this correct ? Pin 1 also connects to Pin 2 on V3 ? And Pin 2 from the Bias socket also connects to Pin 7 on V3 ? Both wires are black on the diagram that I have & I want to be sure. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Greg

    Hi Greg,

Since these two wires are carrying AC current, it dosn't matter which wire goes to which eyelet on the driver board.

    A-ha ! Thank you Sir.

I've had 2 old ST70's in my garage for a decade now. (free, courtesy of my Father-in law, who lacks storage space in NYC) I've put off restoring them because I felt I didn't fully understand how the circuits work. I realized that I don't fully understand how computers work either, but that hasn't stopped me from building over 20 in the last decade. I'm not surprised that my 1st question reflects my lack of understanding regarding electronics ! I'll try to finish this amp on my own, but you may get some more newbie questions from me.

    Thanks,

    Greg
