New Sensor KT150. Empty New Sensor KT150.

    Bob,

New Sensor has a new tube out,the KT150. I was wondering if you had seen this news and if you had any plan to test this in a ST120 amp or any of your amps... It looks like the ST120 could run it as it is about the same load as the KT120 that works well in a ST120.

    New tube.. curious

    Thanks!!

    Hi Andy,

We had another thread on the forum here > Tung-Sol KT 150 about a month ago ..

I talked to Owen at Newsensor and he said they may have some in a late October ..

    Ahhh

On the other thread I see some of the specs mentioned. It looks like the ST120 could run these KT150s.

I was looking at buying some KT120 tubes... My KT88s are at 3 years and think a new set of tubes would be a good idea.

I see on ebay the new KT150s for sale... Should I wait till you get some of these for a test or should I try?

    Andy,

I can't say for sure whether the VTA ST-120 can run these safely ... Also there is the $100 a tube or $400 for a matched quad "big money issue" you would have to contend with. These will be expensive tubes and they might look cool with that egg shape but you won't be able to use the large wattage dissipation they are capable of in the ST-120 amp.

Edit on 12/16/17 > I have had customers tell me that the Tung-Sol KT150's will not bias properly in the VTA M-125 or VTA ST-120 amps. My recommendation is that you not use KT150's as output tubes in either amp.
