    Interesting. I don't see it having much applicability in the mass market where convenience beats sound quality every time, but this may offer some new possibilities for our little niche - maybe offer an alternative to hard-to-find old tubes.

    As with many such new developments, there has been an amateur application of the same principle.  The experimenter points out that the common vacuum fluorescent display is...A TRIODE!  So he used one as a Class-A tube amplifier!
