PH15 gain , high enough for a low output cartridge? Empty PH15 gain , high enough for a low output cartridge?

With my new turntable build I'm thinking of a cartridge upgrade soon  and I'm thinking about trying out a low output  MC or MI cartridge . What do you think about my PH15  being able to handle a .4 mv cartridge ? Does it have enough gain with out having to use a step up transformer ?  They are recommending a gain of 58-64 db.   Anybody ?  Thanks .
It is the MM - MC version PH15 .

you'll need an SUT with an phono cartridge that puts out less than 2.5mv

You might consider some of the high-output MC cartridges, too. Ortofon's MC3 Turbo is one example, and they can be re-tipped.

Thanks Roy . I figured that but was hopeing I did not have to . I didn't want to go to using a step SUT and have to worry about cartridge loading issues that could come with it . I'm going to have to do more reading up on this . The ph15 gain is 45 db mm  and 50 db  mc  right ,  if I remember ?

The Dynavector  20x2 is a high output MC cartridge at 2.8 mv  . The more I listen on some records I'm noticing a little distortion , not real alot but noticable .  I did not hear that on the other turntable it was on . It might be getting worn or not perfectly compatable with this tonearm .  I was just thinking of trying something different than I already have tried .
