Pas 3 volume problem Empty Pas 3 volume problem

    Post by Mikey1895 Mon Dec 04, 2017 6:46 pm

I have a tube Nirvana/Erhard audio aikido line stage and regulated power supply with 12x4 that lost volume control on one channel. It still plays music in that channel but the volume pot has no effect up or down it's just playing at low level. The other channel functions perfect. I've looked/checked everything I can think of at least twice except the volume pot it's self. I will check that later today but am hoping for a few ideas from the pros here as well.
    Thanks Mike

Was the volume pot functioning pre upgrade?

Yes it was. After walking away from it for a bit I found the problem. Sometimes the simplest things are the hardest to see lol. Output from right channel from the Alps had ever so slightly grounded on the solder board while I had my paws inside moving wires. Thanks for responding

Yes it was a complete brainfart on my part. Anyone who hasn't heard this preamp combo from you is missing out I love it! Quad of NOS Telefunken in the line stage connected to a Latino ST120 I built years ago is pretty sweet

Glad to hear someone else likes a PAS3. Mine is loaded with Holger's power supply, TCLA board, and ALPS pots. It's dead quiet and sounds magnificent with a ST120...

I love mine! It's not really a pas3 anymore as you know. I've upgraded my pre in just about every way you can think of and the amp all I've done is upgrade the coupling caps to mundorf silver in oil and a "matched" quad of KT120 output tubes. Dead quiet and sounds amazing to me

thanks for the positive feedback guys. Yes, they are excellent circuits, not to mention excellent value for money!...although others here may disagree with that...but, each to their own opinions! Wink

I wouldn't trade my gear for anything. Next project will be adding dueland caps, hookup wire and resistors

To be correct; this discussion is not about a PAS 3 , it's something built into a PAS chassie replacing
the dynaco design with something else.

that is very true. However, just about everyone refers to it as the PAS2, or PAS3 or PAS3X, even when either heavily modified or completely rebuilt.
