VTA SP9 cap upgrade options Empty VTA SP9 cap upgrade options

    I’m thinking of upgrading my C2 & C6 caps in my SP9

I see the parts list shows 1.0uf 250v but I’ve seen pics with 1.5uf cap replacements. What would be the audible differences of the 2?

Thinking of either Jantzen Z-cap or Mundorf Supremes any recommendations?

Also does 250v vs 800v matter?

    a) There is no reason on this planet to use boutique caps once the basic threshold of decent quality from a reliable supplier is met.
    b) For non-electrolytic fixed-value caps, within the same basic type, voltage does not matter much _AS LONG AS_ the replacement cap is at-or-greater voltage than the OEM cap.
    c) Electrolytic caps are chemical engines. So, NEVER less than the OEM rating, and, generally, avoid going more than 150% of the OEM above, as beyond that, the actual applied voltage may not be enough to exploit the chemistry properly. The larger the capacitance value of the cap, the more this top limit applies.
    d) Temperature is critical to electrolytic caps. Make it a rule to use only 105 C or higher rated caps.

    Best of luck with it!

Because I can, is a reason, on this planet.
    Just saying.

For the OP: Some information that i found useful in my travels, no affiliation. Remember that ears are not created equal so YMMV.

Hey, there are those that enjoy the taste of Snake Oil. De gustibus et coloribus non est disputandum. I suppose I should have been more specific in my choice of words:

There is no independently verifiable reason on this planet...

Set all this up with double-blind testing, and I may change my tune.

    400 hours of burn-in, indeed!

The crossovers of my loudspeakers carried bipolar capacitors, I have changed them for a few Mundorf and if you have noticed the difference.
