Keep on Dancing by the Gentrys. (1965) Interesting song .. To stretch the song out to beyond 2 minutes they just repeated the first part of the song a second time after a "false fade" at about 1:45.

Bob, this thread has imposed a monumental waste of time. Please take it down -- or not.

I remember seeing A Concert For Young People (called something like that) with Leonard Bernstein on TV probably about 1967(?) and he discussed Pretty Ballerina and broke the structure down.
Ballerina didn't get as much airplay as René but it was a hit (#15 USA).
The Matchstick Men LP MUST be heard in mono. The stereo is a mess. A real psychedelic pop classic.
The second SAC LP is great. It has The Pretty Song From Psych-Out.
Arthur Brown is still kicking around and still a classic Brit eccentric.

The Alarmclock is one of my favorite psych bands . The guitarist Ed King quit the band and joined Lynyrd Skynyrd . I bet that was a little bit of a culture shock .
Arthur Brown is in his mid 70's and I think still touring .

Love this thread..... Many artists hit(s) in US and UK.
Over here it was "Bobby Boris Picket and the Crypt Kicker 5" for Monster Mash.

Dave, a good one ... I remember this song well ..
Angel Baby was made sort of "guerilla style". There is a bio of Rosalie Hamlin at the link below which also tells how Angel Baby was made. Sadly Rosalie passed away in 2017.

I dunno if this counts as a "hit", but the cover seems apt...
