Attentuator for ST70 VTA Empty Attentuator for ST70 VTA

In my ST70 the VTA uses volume control "dact type 21". I am thinking for someone better.
I wonder that the TKD 2P-2511S will put in this place without a mechanical problem?
Here is datasheet of this TKD.

What is it that you don't like about the stepped attenuator? What benefit do you expect out of the change? Generally, stepped attenuators are thought to be an upgrade to potentiometers rather than visa versa. If the stepped attenuator has failed, I would replace it with a new stepped attenuator of the same model.

i use a shunt circuit to connect the attenuator. The problem is that I have a crack noise at rotating the volume. The "potentiometer" mentioned above is actually stepped attenuator. TKD 2P-2511S is with stepped action (21 steps).Attentuator for ST70 VTA P2511-19

I installed the Tubes for HiFi unit to my VTA-120 . I think it is the same DACT-21 as yours. Mine is quiet and works well. I would order a new one from http://www.tubes4hifi.com/bob.htm. , and just replace your existing unit.

That not only covers. Inside have amorphous core transformers Lundahl.

Very nice, which model Lundahl? Did you find an improvement over the A470?

I think the transformer is LL1663AM.
Improvement is huge, very modern sound.
I dont use negative feedback, but use this choke 😉

Man, I wish I had the money to experiment, because those would be on my short list.
I'm glad you are enjoying the sound.

If I do build a new  amp I would like to use the driver board from this site with a pair of these for my solid state power supply:

Personally, I prefer the dact type 21 to any reasonably priced attenuators. They track incredible well and channel balance is very, very good.
