Noisy ST120 amplifier Empty Noisy ST120 amplifier

Post by Gabriel Tue Mar 01, 2022 9:53 am

    Hi

    I recently built a ST120 amplifier.
When I first started using the amp, the amplifier seemed to be ok.
Recently, I noticed what was initially a faint buzzing noise when I placed my ear close to the amp, not the speakers.
Tonight, after a few hours of listening, I turned down the volume and I noticed the buzzing noise was louder.
I think it’s coming from the solid state rectifier, wz68. I also noticed the power transformer was almost hot to the touch.
Output transformers were fine, same for the BIAS voltage.
I’m not certain if I should be concerned.

    Regards

    Hi

I noticed this information when I was browsing the internet, stating that the wz68 is for guitar amps??
    I’m confused?
