Earth connection point for an IEC mains power connector. Empty Earth connection point for an IEC mains power connector.

    Hi

I have an ST120 amplifier and I and uncertain about the earth connection.
Is it OK to use one of the output or power transformer chassis connection screws to attach an earth?
I want to avoid drilling into the chassis if there are other options.
In Australia, mains power has an active, neutral and earth.
    Is the Earth connection necessary?
    Thanks.

In Australia, New Zealand and the UK earth bonding of a metal chassis is not only necessary, it's mandatory. The ideal place is close to the entry point of the 3 wire mains cable. I think one of the power transformer screws would be fine. Use a suitable size solder lug and serrated washers and lock nut to make it a secure and solid bond to the chassis.
