Copper M125s and S12 Preamp Empty Copper M125s and S12 Preamp

A few pics of my system.  Most important lesson learned?  If you look at copper plate, it gets scratches!  I would polish to a mirror shine, take a 100% cotton flannel rag to wipe off the wax build up from the polishing compound. Scratches. Rinse, repeat...forever.  It was maddening.

The look I was going for was a warm glow of the entire amp to match the tubes, as far as I am concerned, the look is exactly what I envisioned.

Beautiful! I just finished a 300b amp on a 2 mm copper plate. Polishing is definitely a labor of love. I used everbrite to keep shine. I assume those are “ m125s” for the amps. Awesome work.

    Beautiful work!

And you ain't just whistelin' Dixie about polishing copper. It's a real pain in the arse. I have done a few copper tube amps and I finally gave up with the mirror finish and went with a final #0000 steel wool rub down and cleared it with Permalac so I didn't have to keep polishing it.

These are my MKIII amps with the octal driver tube upgrade built from the Tubes 4 HiFi kit. Preamp is the SP14 kit. I don't use the preamp in the system anymore, I have a passive Schiit that I use mostly because I like having a remote haha.

It's been about 12 years or so since I finished these, and so far no discoloration or chipping!

Gorgeous! I did my M125s and my ST120 in with their aluminum cases plated in copper for my surround system about 7 years ago (partly inspired by mikecochran and a few others who had posted photos of coppery amp builds), and I love them.Copper M125s and S12 Preamp D7bbc610

Terrific job. I love the copper face plates, but I would definitely keep the transformers black.
