    Capacitor woes... Empty Capacitor woes...

Post by Tube Nube Sun Jan 25, 2009 7:32 pm

    On the ST 70...

Havin' a little trouble fitting the PIO caps numbered C5 to C8 on the VTA board.

On the board, where each capacitor mounts, there are two connected holes closest the outer edge of the board. Is this meant to be an option, or is the second hole, closest the edge of the board, for something else?

Otherwise, I'm thinking I might need to extend the leads for the PIO caps.

    Thanks,

    Brenton

Capacitor woes... Empty Correct location for the installation of Russian PIO coupling caps

Post by Bob Latino Sun Jan 25, 2009 8:02 pm

    Brenton,

There are two holes for each Russian PIO capacitor connection. Use the two holes that are the furthest apart for the Russian PIO caps. If you bend the leads as shown in the assembly manual they should fit the two outer holes. The reason for the multiple holes is to have the board have the ability to use a wide variety of main coupling caps.

Check the photo below - the white arrows show the 8 correct holes for the 4 Russian PIO caps. Remember to install them on the BOTTOM Of THE DRIVER BOARD and solder them in on the TOP of the driver board.

    Bob

    Hey Bob,

Thanks for this help. That'll work perfectly. I was worried those holes were wrong.
