I just purchased a rebuilt ST-80 (http://cgi.ebay.com/Dynaco-ST-80-stere-amplifier-/160615395785?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item25656c71c9). I'm wondering if people think a PAS-3 would warm up the sound as compared with a PAT-4. Thanks.
Does a tube preamp warm up a solid state power amp???

it will warm up the sound, but the PAS3 is very inaccurate and not considered "hi-fi" by any standards of the past 20-30 years

When I began moving into tubes my first pairing was from an integrated Arcam amp to the same amp with the preamp function out of the circuit and driven by a PAS-3. Really noticeably different sound. As Rob (?) mentioned, the PAS may not be great but the tube signature shone through. Hooked me for life.
