I run 5963s in my M125s and also in my ST-70. I found some Phillips 5963s that sound wonderful in my M125's and A JAN 5963 in my center position of my ST70. I don't think you can go wrong with the 5963s.

I would caution however that the 5963 often tends to be microphonic. While they are used in less sensitive positions in Bob & Roy's gear they can still cause you grief.

Be sure the tubes you get are tested for microphonics!

I'm using an RCA USN CRC 5963 with black plates and a foil "D" getter of 1958 vintage in the centre voltage amplifier position in my ST-120 with excellent results.

Also have in the left and right phase splitter/inverter positions a matched pair of RCA JRC-5814A with 3 micas, black plates and a square getter of 1959 vintage. Got these NOS tubes from a reliable seller on ebay.

I got some GE 5963's awhile ago. I found them to be rather noisy and I went back to 12BH7's for my ST120.

Nothing wrong with those prices but this was for the 5963 and the conclusion of the
articel. I'm guessing you have a different opinion about the virtues of this tube ?

I'll give you a call for some more tubes.

Edit: Couldn't find a phone nr on your homepage ? PM maybe ?

I had 5963 in my vta-70 as delivered. But one of them developed hum after
some 1000 hours so i replaced them ( no use replacing only one), the remains
was given to a curious customer for free.
What did i use ? JJ-ECC82. It still sounds good.

I agree that the JJ ECC82 is a very good tube; cheap and quiet.  Unfortunately, I had a trio of these tubes in a plastic bag and my dog managed to pull it off the counter.  By the time I got them back, he had done a  number of the pins on one of them!  I now have a duo Mad

I hope the dog did not swallow any of the pins, they might puncture the internals.
At least you have 2 left, you can listen to stereo with them !
