ST 70 Chassis Rust Speckles Empty ST 70 Chassis Rust Speckles

In the process of restoring an ST 70. The top of the chassis has minor rust speckles. Simichrome or auto polish make the good areas of the finish shine but do not remove or smooth the rust speckles. Previous owner engraved his name on the front of the chassis and show no evidence of rust. Got a quote to strip and re-plate the chassis that would buy 4 new chassis.

Thought about sanding everything and paint, but the finish is 99% good.

    1) Is there a clear sealer that could be applied to stop rust progression?
