Hi everyone, I have a PAS 2 and a ST-35. I want to start upgrading both with new tubes, cause the old ones need to be replaced. I was wondering, what are your thoughts/experiences with tubes to bring these two to live again?. I am new to tuberolling so please help me out.

    Thanx in advance.

Hit Jim McShane up for a quad of 6P14P-EB's. He does a great job of matching them. Not too many choices for input tubes. I use JJ.

Oooops, I just noted that you were in Holland. Maybe you can source something there.

recommend me some tubes. Empty Matching Tubes

    Post by Tiziano73 Mon Nov 19, 2012 8:19 am

    Hi gatchaman

In my experience, i prefer NOS Telefunken or Dynaco 12ax7 (are the same) for PAS but i know that are very expensive to find matched.
Anyway any brand you will choose remember to buy a matched and balanced pair.

    Some info on triode here:

    I hope this help.

recommend me some tubes. Empty ST-35 tube choices

    Hi,
Regarding the ST-35...I would suggest the Sovtek EL84M output tubes. These should
be ordered as a matched quartet. The "M" some say stands for Military, however the
construction is more robust as compared to Sovtek's standard EL84. The ST-35 is hard
on output tubes so this would be a good choice for this amplifier. As far as the (2)
7247 input tubes...For new production tubes I have had good results with the JJ brand
and for NOS...Almost any USA or Euro brand should work well. These (2) tubes do not
    need to be matched.

The 7247 tube is also designated as "12DW7" & "ECC832"

Thanx for the suggestions everyone. I seem to have trouble finding the 12X4 tube for my PAS2. Any suggestions?

    yes

you have trouble because you need 12ax7 for preamp tubes or 12x4 for rectifier tube Smile you write 12ax4 !!! Smile.

For 12x4 rectifier tube, you can search on ebay or here for example:
